This archive contains binary images of all three
versions of our new firmware for the Akai AX80. Please
read the included instructions for using the new features.
Also, note that the parameter numbers for CC or Sysex control
are offset from the Akai numbers. The AX80 used a 2764 EPROM (8K bytes).
The new code can be placed in either a 2764, or a 27C256 can
be used. To use a 27C256, place the image in the EPROM with
an offset of 6000H. Akai released three versions of the code,
to work best with three versions of the CEM3372 chip. There
are no other changes, so you should use the correct version
for the CEM chips in your synth, as explained in the service manual.
The new versions are named to replace the old version with the same
letter.
